Pamela Mann HD Screengrabs

A report from the lab….so we have some new and beautiful screen shots from the recently transferred, “The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann”. Overall, this transfer was very successful. The film looks better than it ever has. The colors have come back to life, and the old VCA version, is virtually unwatchable, when compared to this new HD transfer. Not only was the VCA release butchered, but the color and sound are totally fucked! Anyway, the difference to the film itself and the addition, of all previously cut footage, is reason enough to buy this one. But the truth is that this is our most ambitious project to date, and it has just about everything but the kitchen sink. This will go down as being one of the most spectacular classic adult film packages ever produced, and it looks like this will be ready in late Spring.  I will lay out a few of the details below:

*Pamela Mann hard version, uncut, transferred in HD ( all previously deleted footage is intact)

*Pamela Mann soft version, uncut transferred in HD( unique version, never before seen footage)

*Pamela Mann hard trailer

*Full length director commentary with Radley Metzger

*Over 75 original and never before seen slides

*Ephemera Gallery ( news articles, photos, etc)

*Interview with star of film Georgina Spelvin( Georgie)

*Interview with star of film, Eric Edwards ( Frank, the private detective)

*Multiple Documentary Featurettes( Locations, Externals, Life and Times, Music)

*The Deleted Scenes

*Liner note book, written by Benson Hurst, with contributions from our director of music content, as well as another guest writer

And more!!!!!

Details of the Transfer:

THE PRIVATE AFTERNOONS OF PAMELA MANN was restored using the original 35mm blow-up internegative and is presented in its original theatrical exhibition aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The film was scanned in 2K resolution using a Spirit 2K Datacine and the DaVinci Resolve system was used to perform additional color correction and color matching. The film was then backed up on HDD for DVD authoring. The audio was transferred from the 35mm optical track negative and is presented in its original mono form.
PLEASE NOTE that throughout the film there is occasionally a greenish scratch present in the right-most third of the image. This is an imperfection present in the original negative and could not be removed.

Here are some comparisons between the VCA version of Pamela Mann and the brand new HD transfer from Distribpix/Video-X-Pix.

Wow that looks awesome Steven, you sure did a great job on this. Can’t wait to get this one in my hand wich I suppose is only a question of weeks.

When I think that before I tought my VCA release didn’t look too bad even if it was cut… Your captures sure prove me wrong.

Can wait to see what you will do with The Openning of Misty Beethoven my favorite Metzger’s movie and the best movie ever done all genre included.

This comment is only tangentially related, but this post is a good a time as any to let you know that I think you’re doing amazing – and necessary – work.

There adult industry, in my opinion, is in a pretty woeful state, but as a result of the fringe and taboo nature of pornography, the Golden Era hasn’t gotten the documentation it deserves. Losing greats like Chambers, Leslie, and Gillis in the past few years has demonstrated the need to get out there and get a solid record of their careers and lives, and the restoration of classics is a way to give them the presentation they deserve.

Super grateful for all the hard work you’re putting in. Obviously, dollars speak louder than words, so rest assured you’ve found yourself a loyal customer! (Albeit a customer of modest means, unfortunately.)

    Keep at it!

It looks amazing! I’m really looking forward to picking this up. Thanks for the excellent effort you put into this blue classic.

I always love seeing those outdoor shots around NYC — the clothes, the cars — those are the images that really give the strongest sense of time and place to these films.

… take those shots away and the only way we’d know the era is by the amount of body hair. Ewwwwww. 🙂

  5. Jim Stevens says:

Those screen captures are great…such rich color…and the extras are frreaking phenomonal. Will definitely be picking it up in NYC when I’m down there in July.

  6. Sean G says:

Those screenshots look excellent, and the extras look very impressive. Is there any chance of this release making it to Blu-ray? It would almost seem better-suited for a first BD release than INSIDE LOA…

  7. RALEIGH says:

Just one thing missing from this new version ………. An interview with the super star Barbara Bourbon. 🙁

  8. Todd Jordan says:

I too love to see the NY scenes (the LA ones too for that matter) with all the clothes and cars, and advertising signs…but I like the hair too. I can’t wait to see the final product. It shall sit proudly on my shelf right next to Predator.

  9. OChrist says:

WOW! These are absolutely amazing. And bravo to VXP for restoring the censored footage from these Henry Paris classics. When it comes time to do MISTY BEETHOVEN, please let me know, since I am friends with the original cinematographer’s daughter and I believe he’s alive and well and might like to contribute to Special Features.

  10. OChrist says:

Also, I really hope your first post-Paris HD project will be THROUGH THE LOOKING-GLASS, which will have plenty of crossover potential for horror and cult movie DVD and Blu Ray collectors. I’d love to help out with any writing needs you might have and hope we can work together soon.

  11. Lee Jones says:

It’s great to see all of the support for PAMELA. This will be a wonderful release and I hope you all enjoy it. Steven has committed himself to making these the ultimate editions of the ‘Paris’ films and they definitely will be.
For me, at least, restoring Radley’s films has been a labor of love and I’m proud to say that PAMELA hasn’t looked this good since its original 1974 cinema release.

  12. Tony R. says:

“I’m proud to say that PAMELA hasn’t looked this good since its original 1974 cinema release.”

And for those of us who weren’t around to see these in theaters, seeing them in HD is the next best thing!

  13. Amos says:

An impressive share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a friend who has been doing a little research on this. And he in fact ordered me lunch simply because I found it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this…. Thanks for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending the time to discuss this issue here on your web page.
